ISO 27001 in Hull and East Yorkshire

4 min read · Updated

If you run a business in Hull or East Yorkshire and a customer, tender or insurer has asked for ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials, you're not alone. Supply chains across the Humber (energy, ports and logistics, manufacturing, chemicals, food, healthcare and the public sector) are asking their suppliers for proof that they look after information properly.

ClearIMS is made by SW Digital Services Limited, a Hull-based company, so if you'd rather talk it through in person, we can meet locally.

What ISO 27001 involves

ISO 27001 asks you to run an information security management system: decide what's in scope, assess your risks, choose your controls (the Statement of Applicability), write the policies you need, and then keep it running with evidence, internal audits and management reviews. A UKAS-accredited certification body then audits you in two stages. We explain it in plain English in Can you get ISO 27001 without a consultant?.

What it costs

For a business of 10 to 50 people, year one typically costs £8,000 to £25,000 (as of 2026), depending mostly on whether you use a consultant. The certification audit is the one cost you can't avoid. See the full breakdown.

Cyber Essentials first?

If a customer or public-sector contract asks for Cyber Essentials, that's quicker and cheaper, and a good first step towards ISO 27001. See Cyber Essentials vs ISO 27001.

How ClearIMS helps

ClearIMS is for businesses that need ISO 27001 but don't want to build a compliance team to get there. Describe your business in plain English and it drafts your scope, risk register, Statement of Applicability, policies and tasks. A named person in your business approves every record; the AI never approves anything. Then it keeps the system running with owned, dated tasks. Cyber Essentials and business continuity are included.
